HBOT and Healthy Ageing
HBOT and Healthy Ageing at Inspiring Choices
A growing number of people access HBOT at our Clear Island Waters clinic in the context of healthy ageing and longevity. This page describes who seeks HBOT in this context, what the assessment process involves, and how our clinic supports clients who are approaching their health proactively.

Healthy Ageing and HBOT
Who Accesses HBOT in a Healthy Ageing or Longevity Context
A significant proportion of the clients who access HBOT at Inspiring Choices do so in the context of healthy ageing and longevity. These are people who are generally in good health, are approaching their wellbeing proactively, and are interested in accessing HBOT as part of a considered approach to how they age.
Some of these clients have become aware of HBOT through conversations with longevity-focused practitioners and integrative health professionals. Others have been introduced to HBOT through conversations with their naturopath, GP, or integrative health practitioner. Some are accessing it alongside other integrative modalities they are already using at Inspiring Choices or elsewhere.
Regardless of the context in which they arrive, all new clients at Inspiring Choices complete an eligibility assessment before their first session. This ensures HBOT is an appropriate fit for each person individually.

Proactive Health and Longevity
A Considered Approach to Long-Term Wellbeing
People who access HBOT in a healthy ageing context at Inspiring Choices tend to share a common orientation: they are interested in taking an active, considered approach to how they age, rather than a purely reactive one. They are exploring a range of modalities and asking questions about their options rather than relying on any single approach.
Inspiring Choices is not a longevity clinic and we do not make claims about HBOT as a longevity intervention. What we provide is access to Tier 2 hyperbaric oxygen therapy within a professional, supervised clinical environment, for clients whose eligibility assessment confirms it is appropriate for their circumstances.
The clinic environment at Clear Island Waters - where naturopathy, IV therapy, functional neurology, and other integrative modalities are available under the same roof - suits clients who are approaching their health comprehensively. Your care at Inspiring Choices is coordinated across disciplines rather than delivered in isolation.

What Sessions Involve
What to Expect From the Assessment and Session Process
The eligibility assessment is the starting point for all new clients at Inspiring Choices. It involves a thorough review of your health history, current medications and supplements, and the goals and circumstances you bring to the conversation. The assessment is conducted by one of our practitioners and confirms whether HBOT is appropriate for your individual situation before any session is scheduled.
If HBOT is confirmed as appropriate, your first session includes a full orientation to the clinic and the chamber. You are briefed on what to expect during pressurisation and depressurisation, what to wear, and how to make the most of your time inside the chamber. Most clients find sessions comfortable - the majority rest, read, or sleep while inside.
Ongoing sessions are approximately two hours in total, with around 90 minutes at target pressure. Your progress is monitored by the clinical team throughout your program, and adjustments are made collaboratively based on your individual circumstances and feedback.

TGA-Registered Equipment
Understanding the Equipment at Inspiring Choices
Inspiring Choices operates two TGA-registered hard-shell hyperbaric chambers, both classified as Class IIb medical devices on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG 148448 and ARTG 511953). Both are Tier 2 chambers, pressurised to 3.0 ATA and delivering 99.8% medical-grade oxygen via compressed cylinders throughout the entire chamber environment.
Clients who have read about HBOT and longevity-focused applications often ask about equipment standards when they enquire. The distinction between Tier 1 soft-shell chambers and Tier 2 hard-shell chambers is relevant to this question: the pressure levels and oxygen concentration delivered by each type of chamber are meaningfully different.
A trained hyperbaric technician is present throughout every session at our Clear Island Waters facility, and our chambers meet the standards required for supervised clinical use in Australia. If you would like to understand more about our equipment before enquiring, the Our Chambers page provides detailed specifications for both units.
